Gerald Joseph Roma

Gerald ("Jerry") is a graduate from Carmel High School and Manhattanville College. While in college he had an opportunity to intern at the Yonkers City Court where he observed a plethora of different legal proceedings. This experience seeded a desire to one day pursue a legal career. After graduating college, Jerry spent the next six years working at his father's electrical contracting company while also running a general contracting company.

In 2008, Jerry attended Western New England University School of Law. While in law school Jerry interned with the Hon. Richard B. Liebowitz (Ret.) in the Westchester County Supreme Court, the New York State Office of the Attorney General, and the Westchester County District Attorney Office, where in addition to his internship, Jerry was also an extern, where under a Student Practice Order he was allowed to handle various aspects of misdemeanor cases including the unique opportunity to second seat two jury trials.

After law school Jerry joined VanderWoude and Associates (now VanderWoude & Roma) in September 2013 and became Partner in March 2017. Jerry's primary areas of practice include matrimonial, custody, and other family related matters. In addition, Jerry has represented clients in probate matters, employment actions, construction matters, land use litigation, and defamation claims.

What sets Jerry apart from other attorneys is his experience both in and out of the legal profession. Having been on job sites since he could walk, Jerry learned at an early age that attention to detail is essential to a positive outcome. He brings this lesson when approaching any legal issue. Ever focused on learning as much about his clients and their particular issues, Jerry leaves no stone unturned in getting to the heart of the particular problem in order to devise a strategy to get the best possible outcome.
